PRO SKILLS COACHES:
TOM FORD is known throughout the country as one of the most dedicated and knowledgeable instructors in Hockey. Tom has worked as a Skating and Skills instructor for UMass Lowell Division 1 Men’s team for the past several years, and more recently as a Skating and Skills instructor for the Boston Bruins Organization, working closely with NHL and AHL professional players.
DAVE BREEN has coached teams and players at every level, including Youth, Prep, College, Olympic and Pro. Dave is a current Skating and Skills coach in the Boston Bruins organization (NHL & AHL). He has also been the President and Program Director of Micro Ice in North Andover, responsible for all aspects of Micro Ice's hockey programs and the Boston Ice Dogs teams. Previously, Dave was the Director of Player Development at Bentley University (NCAA Division I). Dave has also served as an assistant coach at Curry College, Trinity College and Phillips Academy Andover.
At Micro Ice, our philosophy is based on small group training in a smaller area at a high tempo with many repetitions. Our rink is one-third the size of standard rinks. For younger players, the smaller surface is more comfortable and less daunting. For older players, the smaller surface enhances intensity, forces faster decision making and improves quickness in shots and moves. Our experienced, professional coaches create game-like situations with maximum puck touches to accelerate player development.
